Holiday and Block Party

We have been to work for 2 days and we already got a day off :)  Two of the teams had plans with their customers and left early in the morning.  The two remaining teams decided to meet in the lobby at 10am to work on their respective deliverable.  Around noon, we took a neighborhood walk and found this really nice kilo restaurant by our hotel.  Lunch was delicious as usual.

I have been trying as much Brazilian food as I can (staying away from the "pasta" and "french fries" option at the buffet). Brazilian cuisine is just great. The best part though are the fruits.  Everything tastes so good and juicy.  I also tried "chicken hearts"! hmm... not really a fan.... I don't think I'll be having that anytime soon.  I drew the line at "blood sausage" though.  There is no way I am eating something stuffed with blood. I'm not THAT adventurous.
On the walk back, we HAD to stop at our favorite place in Brazil: The king of Pastels.  This is called a boteco.

THE pastel! It's just a rectangle of fried goodness.  You can have it filled with minas cheese (my favorite), palmitos (2nd favorite), bananas, meat... Basically anything

When we got back to the hotel, we received a text from the other members of our team about a block party.  It's a big street concert and the ticket to go in is a kilo of any non-perishable item.  That's a really smart alternative to a food bank.  So we bought a 5kg bag of rice for 5 of us and headed down there. It was so much fun! And there were so many people!!! The music was great.  I just wished I knew the songs to be able to sing along!
